I found something interesting…

ἀπαράβατος ~ aparabatos –

1) unviolated, not to be violated, inviolable

2) unchangeable and therefore not liable to pass to a successor

This Greek word is used only once in the entire New Testement. It is found in Hebrews 7:24. This is how it reads…

KJV

But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Hebrews 7:24

NASB

but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Hebrews 7:24

Weymouth New Testament

but He, because He continues for ever, has a priesthood which does not pass to any successor. Hebrews 7:24

The word literally means that “which passeth not from one to another.”

Greens Interlinear Greek Literal Translation

but He, because He continues for ever, has a priesthood which passeth not from one to another. Hebrews 7:24

My question should become apparent by now. Why do Mormons think they can hold a priesthood that the Bible says is not able to be passed on to any other?
